Brian Brodersen Now Promoting Contemplative Mysticism

Calvary Costa Mesa’s Brian Brodersen – via his Creation Fest – appears to be working in an active, continual partnership with the Church of England. On their Social media pages, CFest has had LIVE Q&A sessions with Tim Thornton – [COE] Bishop of Truro [Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary]; And, on April 26th, CFest posted “The Official Common Worship App” from the Church of England, for anyone to download. Bishop Thornton has also been a frequent speaker at various CFest events.

The CFest 2017 will feature contemplative advocate Kay Arthur. See: http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/blog/?p=11053 And also: http://apprising.org/2014/07/05/kay-arthur-with-erroneous-contemplative-interpretation-of-psalm-4610/

The Big news is that Brian Brodersen’s CFest is now an active participant & promoter of the COE’s “Thy Kingdom Come” [TKC] ecumenical prayer event, to be held at the Truro Cathedral, May 28th, 2017 – and “Hosted by Creation Fest UK“. Their Facebook post of May 10th states: “JOIN US in prayer with an afternoon of events at the majestic Truro Cathedral as part of the global Thy Kingdom Come prayer initiative.”

The COE’s Truro Cathedral FB page post of May 10, 2017 specifically identifies the Thy Kingdom Come event to be held there on May 28, as “Creation Fest UK’s event“. [See links & screen captures]

Truro Cathedral’s FB page events post declares: “Join the worldwide initiative to pray – http://www.thykingdomcome.global in partnership with the Diocese of Truro, Churches Together in Cornwall and Creation Fest“.

The TKC events are billed as a series of “Prayer” events, but are thoroughly contemplative. Included in the TKC materials are instructions for activities for individuals, families, churches and children, that include, amongst other things:

  • Lectio Divina
  • Labyrinth walking
  • Prayer Stations
  • Breath Prayers
  • Sitting in silence for extended periods
  • Taize Worship (w/ candles & music)
  • Symbolic (ritualistic) body movements, hand signs etc. – called “Prayer Games

Also, many of these practices are combined and executed together. Then, there are many “activities” designed for children, specifically to engage their senses and activate their imagination. Teaching them God’s Word does not seem to be one of these activities.

NOTE that most of these activities are designed to put one into an altered state of consciousness. It is well known that altered states render one susceptible to occultic spiritual (demonic) influences. These forces can subtly influence one towards anti-biblical beliefs and into further occultic practices.

The TKC “Facilitator’s Guidebook” indicates it was written by the contemplative monks of the Society of St. John the Evangelist [SSJE.org] These monks host regular contemplative retreats at their facilities. See https://www.thykingdomcome.global/resources/102

One of the handouts – “Praying the 11 prayers of Thy Kingdom Come” – Like the schedule for the daily prayers that end in Taize contemplation, so the prayers of Thy Kingdom Come end with:

[9:] “Celebration” – using the occultic statement: “Everything and everyone we meet is sacred and charged with God’s Glory” [10:] “Silence – contemplation“; [11:] Saying “I do this in God’s name“…

To summarize: Note that Brian Brodersen, as the Executive Director of the Creation Fest UK – is directly responsible for it’s activities. It has been demonstrated that the Thy Kingdom Come activities are based on contemplative, consciousness altering practices. Brodersen’s CFest FB page shows us CFest is hosting the event, and the COE’s Truro Cathedral FB page states that the May 28th event is “Creation Fest UK’s event”. For Brodersen and company to try to deny or claim ignorance of the contemplative factors being promoted here would be useless. BB is not simply reposting or liking posts by known contemplatives – He is now, himself now an active promoter of contemplative mysticism.

Holy Yoga EXPOSED!

Emergent Watch takes a close look at the  so-called Christian ministry of “Holy Yoga”. Holy Yoga has been around since 2005, and is the brainchild of Brooke Boon. This group came to our attention when it was discovered it was being brought into local churches in Orange County, CA. Since at least 2013, it has been a regular “ministry” at Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church, and Mariner’s, Irvine.

Holy Yoga has recently shown they are teaching not simply yogic postures, but the breathing exercises known as Pranayama – which is designed to awaken occult Kundalini powers. Surveying the Holy Yoga podcasts on Soundcloud, it is also discovered that they are teaching guided meditations, “Breath Prayers”, Christianized Mantra meditation, as well as contemplative spirituality.

Although they claim to “100% Jesus and 100% Yoga” – The eastern occultic concepts integral to yogic practices – such as Chakras, Niyamas, etc. – are integrated into their teachings. Even the monistic spiritual concepts associated with chanting “OM”, are accepted as valid. These occultic concepts and the doctrines they are based upon are diametrically opposed to genuine biblical Christianity.

The following is a video expose’ of “Holy Yoga”:

As has been noted by many researchers – even the yoga poses themselves are connected with demonic “gods”. Yogic postures are not simply “stretching” exercises. As has been demonstrated, what is known as “Hatha Yoga” developed within and came out of the occult “left-handed” Tantric schools of Indian practices. Everything having to do with “yoga” is very dangerous, and can never be synthesized or Christianized.

NOTE: “The things Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons!” – 1 Corinthians 10:20-21

If you know someone involved in Yoga, or other New Age/ occultic practices, pray for them and pray for a way for you to reach out to them with the truth.

The False Gospel of Ryan Ries

Ryan Ries, of The Whosoevers – his ministry, his presentation of the Gospel, and his claims of a “95%” conversion rate – are examined in this all new video – taken from recent Whosoever event footage.

What is wrong with the message of Ryan and the Whosoevers?

1] The kids are drawn by the allure of a free concert, free merchandise and free pizza. See 2Peter 2:18

2] Ryan’s message is centered on his own “testimony”, wherein he glorifies the flesh, and his rock & roll lifestyle.

3] Rather than even mention sin or repentance, Ryan teaches there is “a void” in your life”, and that apparently, you simply need to add Jesus to your life.

4] He calls Christ a “punk” rocker, and compares the disciples to “gangsters”.

5] Rather that directing his listeners to the Word of God, he encourages them to pray, and then listen for a response from God. This is advocating extra-biblical experiential, mystical revelations.

6] He does repeated plugs for his own ministry throughout his message.

7] Ryan makes false claims – that he preaches the Cross, and that he has a “95%” conversion rate at all his events.

The big question: Is Ryan making disciples of Christ, of simply followers of the Whosoevers?

The Shack Movie – On Shaky Ground

As there have been many good reviews of the movie (and the book) The Shack – it is not my intent here to do another. Rather, I have done a satirical Photoshop hack of The Shack movie poster, that I believe, adequately expresses my sentiments on the subject.

For a well balance review of the movie, please see Lighthouse Trails/ Warren B. Smith’s article: Before Watching The Shack Movie, Read This – The “Inspiration” Behind the Movie and Eugene Peterson’s Connection

The Whosoevers – Lies Legitimatized?

In their first conference since the big Calvary Chapel split of November 2016, the CC Association [CCA] is holding a “Stay The Course” conference April 3-5th, 2017. When it was originally announced, there were nine CCA guys in the lineup, but then, ten days later, and without explanation, Ryan Ries [RR] was added to the lineup. http://www.ccawestcoast.org/

It should have been a forewarning – when Ries, who was not a scheduled speaker – was snuck into a group picture of speakers at the “Dunamis” conference held at CC Downey on Feb. 16-18. The CCA is making a HUGE mistake inviting Ries to speak at their conference.

Aside from the many problems inherent in the Whosoever ministry (as has been documented) – back on May 21, 2016, RR had Brian ‘Head’ Welch [BHW], on his nationwide “Shine” radio broadcast – and doubled down on the previous lies and whitewash of the Whosoevers. There is no other word for it, but straight up lies and deception – Now, continuing, from the infamous 11/21/2014 KWVE Whosoever whitewash, to this very day.

No one seemed to be bothered much, when just two months prior to the 11/21/14 KWVE whitewash – wherein Ryan openly lied, saying that BHW “is NOT hanging out with” heretical teachers – Head himself admitted – in his Sept. 30th, 2014 endorsement of contemplative “mystic” Milly Bennitt (on his “Love Drunk Headly” FB page) : “The church at large would call this New Age, but… I’ve been connected to this type of life since 2006. I AM NOT HIDING WHO I AM to please anybody!”

The massive amount of documented evidence of Brian Head Welch’s heretical associations is beyond dispute – and forms a continuous stream, from at least 2012 up to the present day. Though he claims otherwise – it is a fact – that the majority of photos and videos taken of BHW with false teachers are not simply of him sitting passively in the audience, but of his participating in various events with these men.

>> New EmergentWatch Video:

Also, note that most of the documentation of BHW’s errors come from his own (and his friend’s) social media posts – wherein he openly endorses and/ or promotes many false teachers. Now, two years later – after being given his own live radio show – Ryan has again found it necessary to go on nation-wide radio and brazenly lie concerning Welch – in an vain attempt to legitimatize the Whosoevers money-making enterprise, and dispel “rumors”.

It should be quite clear, after all of the years of documentation, that Brian Head Welch believes in the false “Jesus” of the false “Apostles” of the New Apostolic Reformation [NAR]. The theology and eschatology of these people is completely antithetical to Biblical Christianity. For Ryan Ries and his facilitators to attempt to perpetuate the facade that this is somehow not a problem, is a despicable deception.

The real problem isn’t even Welch himself, so much as the fact that Ryan Ries and his facilitators – Brian Brodersen, Raul Ries and others – would facilitate and perpetuate outright lies, and go to such lengths to sanitize, indeed, whitewash the Whosoevers.

This is no longer a matter just involving Brodersen & Calvary Costa Mesa, but now involves the men on the CCA. Men who are now apparently facilitating Ryan Ries and granting him cover – allowing him to use the CCA to legitimatize his lies.

No matter how you try to legitimatize it – No matter WHO endorses it – You cannot build a genuine Christian ministry on a foundation of lies – for, “No lie is of the TRUTH”! – 1 John 2:21

Brian Brodersen’s Creation Fest – Live ‘Teaching Event’ with Anglican Bishop

On Monday March 13, 2017 – Brian Brodersen’s Creation Fest posted on Twitter, announcing their upcoming live Facebook event, “Life Lessons from the Bible”. The event features the Anglican (Church of England) Bishop of Truro, Tim Thornton.  The post beckons, “Tune in and talk, text, tweet, AND *LEARN WITH @Bishop Truro and Steve Wild”. Thornton is also known as “Lord Spiritual”, and has been a member of the House of Lords since 2013.

Aside from from Brodersen’s open endorsement (on 4/14/2016) of Nicky Gumbel and his contemplative “Alpha” – this is his most brazen ecumenical move – even his boldest, since splitting from the CCA back in November. If anyone has any lingering doubts about Brodersen and the direction he intends to take his Calvary Chapel, they need to contemplate this.

As EmergentWatch has documented over the last 3 1/2 years, Brian Brodersen, via his Creation Fest – has been in a semi-hidden ecumenical partnership with many aberrant churches in the UK – particularly the Anglican Church of England. The COE and Rome recently solidified their partnership with a new “Common Declaration” between Pope Francis and Archbishop Justin Welby on Oct. 6, 2016.

This should be a huge red flag to the church of the state of the ongoing apostasy – That things are getting very late. How bad does Brodersen have to get- does he have to burn incense to Ba’al before people are alarmed? Christians are herein advised to mark Brodersen and his partners, and to separate themselves from this ecumenical apostasy.  He is most certainly in grave error and is now beyond accountability, and possibly beyond correction.

Calvary Costa Mesa’s Brian Brodersen, Hillsong and Bethel, Redding

Calvary Costa Mesa’s Brian Brodersen has openly endorsed Hillsong and it’s leader, Brian Houston – on KWVE’s “Pastor’s Perspective” program of December 3, 2015. Brodersen publicly certifies Hillsong as “Orthodox” in spite of their many well known aberrations – And even though less than a year later, Hillsong’s Houston was a featured speaker at the heretical, New Age, Bethel Redding’s “Open Heavens” conference of October 4, 2016. In light of these, and other events, it appears that the convergence of apostasy is rapidly accelerating. Now is the time to stand on God’s Word, and resist the global convergence.
