We were all created with a natural longing for fulfillment – for genuine love. We have an emptiness in our hearts that God created with the intention that we would seek Him. Yet, when we try to fill this emptiness with the temporal things of this world – be they possessions, popularity, sex and drugs, even religion – we will eventually find that they never truly satisfy. Sadly, without God, not only is the emptiness still there, but we may even find that we’ve become enslaved – addicted to things that can destroy our lives and ruin our souls.
We were created to have a loving relationship with our Creator. God wants to give us His love, but love can never be forced, for without free will, there cannot be genuine love. We have the choice, to go our own selfish way, one of man’s “religious” paths, or His way. Jesus says, “I am The way, the truth and true life, and no one comes to God apart from Me!” [John 14:6]
All of this world’s problems are the result of our own willful choice to deny our Creator’s guidance, forgiveness and love. The human problem is not that we haven’t “realized our higher self”, etc. – but that we’re separated from God by our own sin. All of the war, crime and selfishness is testimony to our inherent sinful human nature. “Religion”, humanism, social justice – none of man’s devising to correct our problems can change our sinful nature.
Now what about you?
You may think you’re a “good person”, for “all the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes” [Prov. 16:2] Yet God knows everyone’s heart and declares, “There is not a just man on earth who does not sin.” [Eccl. 7:20] And that “ALL have sinned and fall short” of His righteousness. [ Rom. 3:23]
You, like all of us, have surely broken God’s commandments and without God’s salvation you will NOT go to heaven. “For the wages of sin is death – Yet the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus!” [Rom.6:21-23]
Jesus spoke of hell as a very real place – A place where people go who reject God’s salvation – And yet “God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!” [Rom. 5:8] Consider carefully that God so loved the world that He gave His Only begotten Son – So that whoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life!” [John 3:16]
God has given you this life – you’re not here by chance or by your own choice – but you do have a choice – God has given you your free will, and this chance to know His love. “What profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” [ Matt. 16:26]
Where will you go when you die?
We do not get many chances or many lives, to “perfect ourselves” or somehow make ourselves good enough for God. The Bible is clear, God has “Appointed that men die once”, and then He will judge them for sins and their choice to either accept or reject His forgiveness through Jesus Christ. [Heb. 9:27]
God came in the flesh, in the person of Jesus Christ, and literally died in your place, taking the penalty for all your sin upon Himself. For, “Jesus Himself shared in the same”, and through His death, he gives life to all who believe in Him, and frees all who are in bondage of sin and fear of death! [Heb. 2:14-15]
But, you must know the Truth – How terrible sin against God is, and how much it cost God The Father to freely offer you the gift of eternal life. The value God places on the sacrifice of His Son for our sin is inestimable and eternal in God’s eyes. To reject His salvation is the only unpardonable sin. “How can we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?” [Heb. 2:3] Therefore God says, “TODAY if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts!” [Heb. 3:13-15]
Salvation is by God’s grace, through simple faith in Jesus Christ, his death for your sins and his life giving resurrection. No religion, no church, no ritual can save you – Only Christ Himself!
Jesus says, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to ME and drink!” [Jn. 7:37] And, “All that The Father gives Me will come to me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out!” [Jn. 6:37] And “As many as received Him, He gave the right to become children of God!” [Jn. 1:12]
If you want to have your sins forgiven and have eternal life with God, you must turn away from sin and turn to God. Believe in His Son Christ Jesus and his sacrifice for your sins and receive Him into your life. If this is what you sincerely want, You may pray a simple prayer like this: Dear Lord Jesus, I confess to you that I am a sinner, and I am willing to turn from my sin now. I believe that you died for my sins, and were raised again to give new life to those who receive you. I ask you now to come into my heart, fill me with your Holy Spirit and be my Savior and Lord – Amen!
